Kangaroo Ground Primary Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) provides high quality care for school children throughout the school term. We request all bookings are made prior to the session required, as it provides the staff with the necessary requirements when planning for staffing and activities as well as ensuring the child's safety and attendance. The service may be used on a regular or casual bases, or if an emergency arises. Messages for staff may be left on our answering machines 24 hours a day. Calls will be returned upon request when staff is next in attendance.
The program is a community program offering low cost care in a safe, relaxed, stimulating and well-supervised environment. The Program operates in accordance with the requirements of the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and the State Department of Education and Training (DET). The School Council has overall responsibility for the establishment and operation of the Program.
The program operates during the following hours: Before School Care: 7.15 am – 8.45 am
After School Care*: 3.20 pm -6.00 pm
*Hours vary on days of early school dismissal.
Our program runs from the community hall, next to the Kangaroo Ground Pre-School. Experiences are many and varied with both indoor and outdoor activities available. Included in these experiences are art and craft, construction, board-games, chess, drama, table soccer, table tennis, basketball, sandpit play and many more. The children also have access to the oval and the school’s basketball court and playground.
A nutritious, healthy breakfast or light refreshments are provided during each session. Please note that breakfast service finishes at 8:00am. Afternoon tea consists of fruit, vegetables and light nutritious snacks.
Water is available at all times; Milo and juice are available at breakfast.
Any child’s special dietary needs should be specified at the time of enrolment
The staff ratio is one staff member per 15 children. All staff members are Level 2 First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Emergency Asthma Management trained.
Kangaroo Ground Primary OSHC is an approved service offering families a reduction in fees through Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate following family income assessment through Centrelink. For information about eligibility for fee assistance families should contact the Assistance Office/Centrelink on 136150 and activate their child’s Centrelink registration in our service. Centrelink office hours are between 8.00am and 8.00pm, Monday to Friday or alternatively online at www.centrelink.vic.gov.au.
