Performing Arts
At Kangaroo Ground Primary School, we believe that the performing arts play a vital role in nurturing creativity, confidence, and collaboration. Our Performing Arts program is designed to provide students with a wide range of opportunities to explore their artistic talents and express themselves through music, dance, and drama.
School Productions & Carols by Candlelight
One of the highlights of our performing arts program is our biennial School Productions, where students of all ages come together to perform on stage. These productions offer a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their acting, singing, and dancing skills, while working as part of a team to bring a story to life. The productions are a celebration of student creativity, with roles for everyone, whether on stage or behind the scenes.
Our Carols by Candlelight event is a treasured tradition at Kangaroo Ground Primary. This festive evening brings the school community together to enjoy performances from our students, featuring beautiful carols, dances, and musical acts. Itβs a magical experience that showcases the talent and spirit of our students as they share their joy and creativity with family and friends.
In-Class Learning: Music, Dance, and Drama
In the classroom, students are encouraged to explore different aspects of performing arts. All students learn to play the ukulele, an engaging and accessible instrument that helps develop musical skills and rhythm. Through group lessons and performances, students experience the joy of making music together.
Our dance program is designed to encourage physical expression and creativity. Students explore various dance styles, from contemporary to classical, and have opportunities to perform in front of their peers.
Drama is another core component of our performing arts curriculum. Through improvisation, role-playing, and script work, students gain confidence in performing in front of others while developing essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
At Kangaroo Ground Primary School, the performing arts are not just about performance β they are about building self-expression, resilience, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. We welcome all students to join us in this exciting and enriching journey!
Instrumental Lessons
Learning an instrument offers numerous benefits for primary school-aged children, helping them develop important skills that extend far beyond music. Students have the option of learning a wide range of instruments through our school's instrumental learning program. These include: Guitar, piano, singing and trumpet.
Playing an instrument enhances cognitive abilities, such as memory, attention, and problem-solving, while also fostering discipline and perseverance as children practice and improve over time. It boosts creativity, encouraging children to think in new ways, and improves their ability to work collaboratively, especially in group performances.
Additionally, learning an instrument can increase self-esteem and confidence as children experience the sense of achievement that comes with mastering new skills. Overall, musical education helps children develop a well-rounded set of abilities that support academic success and personal growth.
